Some of my riding buddies tell me this place sucks. Other people say its great. Anyone have personal experience who ride bikes? Is this place more suited to quads than bikes? Its not far from my house and I figured I'd like to give it a try.

Dang looks like rain int eh forecast for this weekend. 40% Saturday and 30% Sunday. Either way it will be sloppy I'm sure. I think we'll end up trying to go on Sunday though so if anyone wants to meet us there I think this is where we'll be. That or we'll be riding some private hunting areas near Lay Lake.

I dont mind the place, there are alot better places out there but with this one being so close to the house its hard to beat for a quick ride. The last time i was there they had started cutting some new trails. If i can get my new bearings in the front of my dvx i will go with you sunday if you want.

Cool! Hoping I can get my jetting dialed in by Friday afternoon. Should be me and my buddy on his KDX220. Maybe a Polaris quad but not sure.

We rode back in May and they had some pretty decent single track. IF you're planning on riding all day then you'll want to try somewhere else. But if you're only riding a couple hrs it's not a bad place.

I'm not sure how long we plan on riding. A friend of mine is still nursing his torn knee so this will be the first weekend back on his CRF. Probably won't last all day I'm sure. Were the trails groomed when you went?

Would this park be worth a three hour ride from Mobile? How many miles of single track do they have?

The open/ atv trails were groomed but some of the single track was grown up and had some fallen trees over the trails.

Not worth the drive in my opinion. I would guess there's about 4 - 5 miles of single track.
Here's the email I received a couple days ago when asking about the single track..
The single track is in pretty good shape. I can tell you it is getting some use but personally I do not ride the single track. The park ranger here, Mark Alexander, does ride a dirt bike and can tell you a little more about it. He works Thurs-Sunday and can be reached at 205-312-1116. Hope to see you at the park soon.

add another hr and a half and head to the ridge...

Kentuck was a blast when we went and that was when my bike was riding like ass and it was sloppy from all the rain. Check the multimedia forum section for vids of it. There are other OHV parks up this way that alot of folks seem to like. I have only ridden Kentuck so far. We are going to Minooka tomorrow and I'll have my helmet cam on me so it should give you an idea.
I also want to ride some of Bankhead Nat'l forest soon.

Well we are headed out at around 10-11 this morning. If anyone is gonna be there look for a WR, CRF250X and a KDX220. That'll be us. Hope the place is groomed!

I think it was $5 or $10 to drop in a box. Two-way trails. Go there early so you get there before anyone else.

The wife and me are going to go check it out tommorow. 9/20/09 I talked to the ranger today he said it's messy but all trails are open. We should get there around 10:00. If anyone else goes and you see a flat black DRZ-400S and a blue Grizzly 350 stop us and say hello!

WE had a blast. we spent 5 hours there and didn't want to leave. The trails were marked great and the park ranger was very cool. I will be spending alot of time this winter there. It's close to home and no hunting alowed. We seen 2 deer 1 was a MONSTER BUCK, turtles and other wildlife. It is a beautiful park. We took a video of the new trail they are cutting but no pictures. We would have to stop for pictures and that wasn't happening. Sabrina was giving it hell!

Sweet vid! They were just starting to cut in that section when we went. Your woman looked like she was having a blast. At the beginning I got a good laugh when she about rolled it and then just smiled it off and kept going lol! Thanks for posting it.

Lucky indeed. My wife hates bikes. Maybe I can get her a 4wheeler later on after the baby grows up a little.

We went to the doc today for our weekly check-up and he told my wife to go ahead and take her maternity leave. So looks like we won't be too long away!
